ORDINANCE NO. 49
AN ORDINANCE to change the Municipal Election of the Village of Choudrant in accordance with Act of Legislature number 829, 1984 session, providing for the holding of municipal elections at the same time as Congressional are held in that year every four years for the election of all municipal officials of the Village of Choudrant beginning with the Congressional election in 1986 and providing the date each official shall take office. This done under provisions of R.S. 18:402, and providing for furnishing a copy of this Ordinance to the Secretary of State.
WHEREAS by holding the municipal election for the Village of Choudrant at the same time the Congressional elections are held would be a substantial savings and would not impair the normal operation of the Village, and
SECTION 1, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMAN IN REGULAR SESSION CONVENED that the Village of Choudrant acting under the authority of Act 829 1984, does hereby adopt the following plan for holding municipal elections in the Village of Choudrant beginning with the Congressional year 1986 and said election shall be for four years at the same time Congressional elections.
SECTION 2 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMAN IN REGULAR SESSION CONVENED that the elected officials of the Village of Choudrant shall take office on January 1 st following their election and shall serve for a term of four years
SECTION 3 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN IN REGULAR SESSION CONVENED that presently elected officials shall continue to serve in their respective office until a successor has been elected and sworn in to that office.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN IN REGULAR SESSION CONVENED that the Honorable James Brown, Secretary of State be furnished a copy of this Ordinance.
